 ▋ BORROW

On our website you can search the online catalog, place holds, search databases, enjoy eBooks, and more. While viewing your library account online, you may also check due dates of items borrowed, status of items on hold, and renew your checked-out materials.

When borrowing books, please present your own library card and make sure the checked out items are correct. All transactions are recorded on My Account.

The maximum number of books borrowed and loan period depends on the patron type. Please refer to Patron Type & Loan Periods.

 

 ▋ LOAN PERIODS

The NCUT Library welcomes donations of books, journals, and other materials.

  • Undergraduate Students:21 days for regular checkouts; Ineligible for journal checkouts, textbook, new releases.

  • Master's program Students:30 days for regular checkouts; Ineligible for journal checkouts, textbook, new releases.

 ▋ RETURN

Patrons can return the material at the circulation service desk. Also, patrons may use the book drop during closing hours. Books put into the book drop will be processed on the next working day, and the return date will be recorded as the date previous to the day processed.

 

 ▋ RENEW

You can renew items online or by presenting each item to the circulation service desk. Most books can be renewed once unless another user has requested a particular item.

Items can be renewed from the next day after check out. Renewal is limited to once per day, and patrons are subject to a maximum loan period depending on the patron type. For more, go to Patron Type & Loan Periods.

Please note that renewal will not be completed in the following conditions:

  1. Your Library card account is expired.

  2. Item(s) in your record is/are overdue.

  3. Item is on hold (reserved by others).

  4. Yours borrowing privilege is locked temporarily for unpaid fines.

 

 ▋ RESERVE & HOLD

When the requested item is available for pick-up, library will send a circulation pick-up email notice to remind you.

All requested item returned will be on hold shelf for 3 working days. If the requester does not pick up the book during the period, the item will be moved to next requester in line or back to library stack.

 

 ▋ FINES & FEES

Please return all checked out items on or before the due date.

If a book is not returned by the due date, it is considered overdue and is subject to overdue fines.

  • Late return of books will be charged NTD$5 overdue fines for each item per day.

  • Overnight item will be charged NTD$5 overdue fines for each item per hour.

The fines will be cumulated until the late item returned to library.

Users with late returned books or unpaid fines cannot check out, renew or request any book.

 

 ▋ REPLACEMENT FOR LOST / DAMAGED BOOK

Any defect or damage to a book should be reported to the librarian immediately. Users will be responsible for loss or damage to any book in their records, and will be required to pay the full value of replacement.

Users should complete the book replacement procedure during 30 days since the book due date; otherwise, users have to pay the overdue fines besides the replacement book or fees.

Please bring an identical item in new/good condition (no stickers, stamps, writing, discoloration, etc.) to library:

  • Use the item's ISBN to find an exact replacement.

  • If you cannot provide a replacement book, you must pay the triple retail price of the item.

  • Library reserves the right to refuse any replacement copy.

  • Refunds will not be given on replacement charges the borrower paid for lost or damaged parts.
